This MCM session was a repeat of The Hospital Records Ninja, a session that MGMfirst presented in 2014.
The Hospital Records Ninja is part presentation, part skills clinic. You will need to bring your laptop so that you can participate in some interactive exercises.
The session focusses on how to assess, understand, and present hospital records. We will use a hypothetical case and walk through the following screening/trial prep questions:
What is the purpose for which I will use the hospital records?
Do I require a live witness?
Do I require an expert?
If I’ve decided to call a live witness, how do I identify the witness, subpoena them, and elicit the evidence?
If I’ve decided to elicit expert opinion evidence, how do I gather the required information to give notice?
